DESCRIPTION: Illustrated programs on the movement of fugitive slaves into Illinois and through the Chicago region and the assistance given through the networks of the Underground Railroad. \nTours and programs on Regional and African American History South of Chicago A variety of options are available and may be designed to meet specific group and program needs. \nDr. Larry McClellan graduated from the University of Chicago. His research focuses on the Underground Railroad in Illinois and he was instrumental in gaining listings on the Network to Freedom national register of Underground Railroad sites for sites in Crete and Lockport.  His consulting\, research and writing focus on historic highways\, the Underground Railroad in Illinois\, and on African American and regional history south of Chicago. Major publications include 25 articles in the Encyclopedia of Chicago [2005]; The Pontiac Trail\, Route 66 and the Early Chicago to St. Louis Roads [2013]; The Underground Railroad South of Chicago [2019]\, and co-author of The Remarkable Journey of Caroline Quarlls\, a Freedom Seeker on the Underground Railroad [2019]. His latest book\, Barefoot to Chicago: Freedom Seekers and the Underground Railroad in Northeastern Illinois\, will be published in 2022.

Chuck Youdris is a longtime collector of Civil War firearms. With his Civil War artillery corporal’s uniform\, he will present and talk about his firearm collection. \nAs Charles & Elizabeth Henneman\, the Youdrises will portray an Ohio farm couple whose farm served as a stop on the Underground Railroad to Canada.

DESCRIPTION:Dr. Mark Zumhagen has been a part of the Monee community since 2005\, and practices as a Family Physician in Orland Park with an emphasis on nutrition. \nMark’s interest in Abraham Lincoln began eight years ago when he grew a beard and gave the Gettysburg Address at his children’s school.  Since then\, he has shared the stage with Oliver North\, and Dr. Benjamin Carson. He considers it a great honor to have opportunities to present the wisdom and eloquence of our 16th president.
